“When asked to describe Em Cakes in just a few words, the answer is simple: honest, handmade cakes that make every occasion special.

When I think about what we create at our Hampstead bakery, one word comes to mind: “honest cakes.” We don’t claim to revolutionize the baking world or introduce groundbreaking innovations. Instead, we stay true to the essence of homemade cakes – simple, fresh, and heartfelt.

Every cake we offer is baked fresh in our kitchen, right behind our store in Hampstead, London. Our ingredient list is refreshingly simple: flour, butter, eggs, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda & a few other items like fresh fruits, flavourings and cocoa powder – no artificial additives, just natural goodness. We’ve spent years refining our recipes, continuously perfecting the art of buttercream cakes. Our specialty lies in crafting elegant, timeless designs that bring smiles to every occasion, whether it’s a birthday, wedding, or just a moment of sweet indulgence.

My journey into baking was anything but conventional. At 25, while stuck in the monotony of applications in between jobs, I baked my first cake out of sheer boredom. I wasn’t a dessert enthusiast by nature, and I distinctly remember asking others, “Is this what a good vanilla cake or cookie should taste like?”. From that curious moment, a passion was born, and what followed has been a rollercoaster of challenges and joys.

I’ve always known that I am more of an entrepreneur at heart, even from a young age – always looking for an opportunity to build something meaningful. Em Cakes has been an accidental bliss, allowing me to channel my passion for business and apply the knowledge gained from my Economics background, along with many other transferable skills gained from working in the trading industry.

Building this bakery has been far from smooth, it is not always ribbons and roses!... There were countless moments of discomfort and hardship. But through perseverance, a strong belief in the values of our products offered, an incredible team, along with the support of our customers, and the magic of ‘’honest cakes’’, we’ve grown beyond what I ever imagined. The positive response to our cakes continues to fill me with immense pride.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to explore new horizons – from having more ‘’ Em Cakes ‘’ to hosting community workshops and adopting more sustainable practices... The journey is far from over, and we can’t wait to share our next chapter with you.
